How to ENTER

SUBMIT YOUR ESTIMATED RUN TIME

Each team is given a starting handicap based on the sum of their runner’s previously estimated times. This means you estimate the time it will take you to run 5km in advance.

 

Start times will be based on your total team estimated time and starters will go in different waves.

 

The theory is that if everybody runs to their handicap time they should finish together. We know people have good and bad runs but the race works best if you are realistic about your time – use your training timed runs. You might be first across the line but you will miss the thrill of ending with the crowd and the spirit of the event.

 

Anyone over or underestimating by a large amount will be very noticeable

The course is 2.5km lap of Lake Roto Kōhatu with the Under 16 relay runners doing 1 lap and the rest doing 2 laps each. Four person relay teams with a handicap start. First start at 12.30pm.

Teams:

  • Senior Men, Masters Men, Mixed teams - 4 runners x 2 laps of 2.5km

  • Senior Women, Masters Women teams - 4 runners  x 2 laps of 2.5km (a woman can run in a male team but a male cannot compete in a woman's team)

  • Boys Under 16, Girls Under 16 teams, Mixed Under 16 teams - 4 runners x 1 lap of 2.5km

 

This is a Handicap relay with each team given a starting handicap based on the sum of their runners estimated times. The slowest estimated team starts first with the first adult team leaving at 12:30pm and first U16 team off at 1:30pm.


Parking for Lake Roto Kōhatu, will be via the top end of Sawyers Arms Road and the surrounding streets. You will then be required to walk in over the hill to the start area, but away from the course itself - allow 20 minutes.
