The 2022 New Zealand Senior Marathon Championships combined with the Athletics Canterbury Marathon Championships will take place on a fast, flat course in rural Canterbury. This event presents an enticing opportunity for our leading domestic marathon runners to race in a top-quality competition, and chase quick times. There is also some financial reward on offer.
Following the lifting of Covid restrictions we are now also offering a half-marathon option for those keen to run a shorter race over this fast course. Local runners can gain a development grant in this event and we would encourage them to check this out under event details.
Numbers in the event are still limited with priority given to marathon contenders. Half marathon entries will be accepted on a first come first served basis until our race limit is reached.
Full Event details can be found HERE.
Athletics NZ Competitions Manager Jason Cameron says: “This is a fantastic opportunity for our marathoners to utilise those months of hard and disciplined training over summer for a truly unique race opportunity. I’m sure there will be a lot of interest in the performances achieved on the day.”
