Cross-country race specifics
Courses are clearly marked and the obstacles are carefully considered so they are a challenge without massive ascents or descents, sharp bends, or thick undergrowth, etc.
A championship event is designed for runners to keep their cadence and speed going at a decent speed and still test speed and agility. This is will be a challenging event with variety of terrain on the course.
Any runner 20 years and older can run in the non-championship grade. This grade is not eligible for medals.
Cross Country award
Canterbury Athletics, via the Lorna Overend Trust fund, have training awards of $100 each which are presented to the winners of the Senior, U18 and U20 women’s age grades. This funding is to assist with the travel costs associated with representing Canterbury at the National Cross-Country Championships. See Awards page.
