COURSE CONTENT

The skills the course will cover are those that specifically help with the delivery of your technical knowledge.  Your athletes will have different personalities, will undergo changes, and will need different treatment as they progress through their athletic career.  As a coach, adapting to these differences, as well as understanding your own coaching style is a major aim of this initiative.

The "Soft Skills"

  • Discovering and developing your coaching style

  • Insights into the stages of athlete development

  • The key principles of training

  • The art of effective communication

  • Mastering the management of group trainings

  • Motivating, focusing, and managing your athletes

  • Understanding the rules

  • Balancing energy and nutrition

COURSE DELIVERY

The course content will be delivered via seminars, practical workshops, on line expert led discussions, and participation tutorials.
There will be a variety of instructors and experts from within athletics circles as well as from other sports.

LENGTH OF THE PROGRAMME

As inductees to the 2022 coaching cohort it is expected that it will take 2 years to cover the base 12- 15 modules of this programme and achieve the Athletics Canterbury Endorsement Certificate.
