More than a run in the park
Lakes Reserve Cross Country
Event Detail
Location - Lake Roto Kohatu
A hidden gem, the reserve at Lake Roto Kohatu is a great venue to try out cross country running.
The course is grassy, mostly flat with some small ups and downs. A normal running shoe is okay to wear but a shoe designed for trails is better especially if it has been a bit wet.
Lake Roto Kohatu is out near Christchurch airport and is accessed by turning off Johns Road (SH1) and onto Sawyers Arms Road. There is limited parking within the reserve. We suggest you park on the road and follow the signs (it is a good way to warm up).
All Runners will start together at 10am with the 2k runners finishing after 1 lap and the 4k runners going round for a further lap. As this is more than just a run in the park we suggest all runners under 10 enter the 2k race.
Club Tents are allowed and new runners are encouraged to ask both the race organisers and club people questions about cross country running. The CanRun tent is a good place to start. Look for the flags.
While we are allowed to mingle we would ask everyone to do this in a safe manner. Wearing masks when not in race mode is requested.
