Event Info

This event has attracted runners from local athletics clubs for years.  We want to share the fun with other runners.  Make up a team from work, from your family, or from your friends.  We will provide a gazebo for you to hang out in, keep your stuff safe, shelter from the weather, and meet other teams.  If you have your own shelter, let us know and we will make space for you too.  All the clubs bring their own tents - it adds to the carnival atmosphere.

ROUTE & ELEVATION

The course has undulations of up to 10m over the stop banks and track along the river. There is a mix of gravel and woodland track. Away from the CBD, this run offers the opportunity to run in an area outside the city confines. While the tracks are very runnable, care will be needed due to the riverside terrain. We consider this makes the event a true cross-country trail run.

 TERRAIN & SUPPORT DETAILS

This course covers a wide variety of terrain in a short circuit course.  It has a gravel stop bank,  winding river paths, and a flat grass start.  This whole area is reasonably sheltered from strong winds and is a good winter running spot.

Public toilets are available to use. Parking available as per the map.

No Dogs allowed in race area.

 RELAY LEGS & COST

All teams, both adult and junior teams, have 4 legs each. The difference is the length - the under 18 team runners each run a lap of 2.5 km, whereas the seniors run 2 laps each to give a total length of 5 km per leg.

Start area by Rangiora stop bank reserve.

Cost for community runners is $20 per adult and $10 for those under 18. Cash payment on the day is required before starting.
